This application is a useful Scripture study tool when performing topical studies. It is based on R. A. Torrey's Treasury of Scripture Knowledge (found at http://www.biblestudytools.com/concordances/treasury-of-scripture-knowledge/). I made this app for my own personal studies, and I hope it serves you in your own study of God's infallible, all-sufficient word.
Basic usage:
To begin, select a verse you wish to study. This verse is the root verse. Leave the Depth and Filter fields empty and press Submit. After a brief pause, a network of verses will appear in the bottom half of the screen. Pinch in and out to zoom the network (words will not be visible at low zoom levels). Drag the network to move it around the screen. In red, you will find the root verse you selected. Radiating out from the root verse you will find a few topical nodes. A topical node contains a word or phrase from the root verse which indicate which parts are being crossed referenced by the yellow verses attached to it. That is, these yellow verses are the immediate cross-references to the root verse, under the topic specified by the connecting topical node.
Advanced usage:
It is possible to use the CRM as a topical concordance by specifying a search term in the Filter field. If you do, only verses which contain the phrase you supply will be retrieved. So typing 'wis' will filter for verses containing 'wis'dom, 'wis'e, 'wis'er, etc. The search is case-insensitive.
Along with the filter, it is sometimes useful or interesting to supply a value in the Depth field specifying how far out from the root verse to search. The default depth is 1, which means only the immediate cross references of the root verse are considered. If the depth is 2, a "friend-of-friend" search happens - not only are the root verse's cross-references found, but so are their cross-references. Finally, you can supply a maximum number of nodes ("verse bubbles"), which can help to reduce processor strain and time.
NOTE: It is important to use a filter term when specifying a depth. Since a reasonably connected verse may have 5-10 cross-references, a depth of 2 may have 25-100 verses, a depth of 3 may have 125-1000, etc. In other words, the number of result verses increases exponentially with depth. Filtering will help to reduce this effect.
Every word of God is pure:
he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him.
